The First Pictures of the PlayStation 5 Slim Surface Online

Just hours ago, the first real images of the PlayStation 5 Slim leaked through an X (formerly Twitter) account. As a result of Sony’s copyright strike, the leaker quickly removed the files. However, The Verge quickly captured and saved the leaked PS5 Slim photos, which show the console standing alongside the chunkier PlayStation 5.

The pictures show what the new PS5 Slim will look like. It is slightly smaller and thinner than the original PS5. The back still has the same ports for connecting things like HDMI, USB, and Ethernet cables.

The images also give us a first look at the new disc drive that can be detached from the PS5 Slim. There is a screen that talks about needing an internet connection to use the disc drive. It says, “You need to connect your PS5 to the network to register your disc drive to your PS5.” This confirms earlier rumors.

Some people are worried about what will happen if Sony stops supporting the PS5 in the future. Then the disc drive might not work anymore, even if it is connected to the internet.

Sony will sell the PS5 Slim later this month. A version without a disc drive will cost $449.99. One with the disc drive will cost $499.99.

People got a quick peek at the PS5 Slim, but Sony wants control over when and how we see its new console. Stay tuned for more official PS5 Slim details soon!
