Gmail's menus now have helpful icons

Gmail’s web version has been tweaked to add more icons to menus that make navigation easier. Previously, when you clicked the three-dot menu icon in an email, you only saw icons for replying or forwarding with the other options listed without icons. Now all the options have small pictures next to them to make it clearer what each one does.

Options like filtering messages, printing, deleting, blocking, reporting as spam or phishing, showing the original email, translating, downloading and marking as unread now have icons next to the words. The icons help you find what you need faster. Even the overflow menu at the top with options like archiving, deleting and snoozing emails now has icons.

These changes follow other Google apps like Documents adding icons to menus last year. Icons help make menus more visual and intuitive to browse through on any device. The updates aim to simplify navigating the different actions you can take in Gmail across computers and mobile.

The new icons are rolling out now to the Gmail website. If you don’t see them yet, try refreshing the page. Hopefully, the icon changes come to the Gmail apps for Android and Apple phones and tablets soon too. Small tweaks like this can go a long way in improving the user experience of popular free services like Gmail that millions rely on every day.
