Apple May Add ChatBot Smarts to iPhones

AI has been very popular over the past year. Some of the biggest new phones – the Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24 – focused a lot on AI features. Most of those AI features use Google’s Gemini technology, even on Samsung phones.

Now it seems Apple wants to add chatbot smarts to the next iPhone software update too. Apple has been talking to both Google and OpenAI about including their AI in the next iOS version.

In the past, we heard Apple was talking to Google about using Gemini. That would be like what Google does for Samsung. But a trusted reporter now says Apple is also talking to OpenAI. They want to add features from OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot to iOS.

The new iOS update could have AI from both Google and OpenAI. Apple likely doesn’t want iOS to do exactly the same things as Pixel and Galaxy phones. It needs some special iPhone-only features too. If Google can’t offer anything unique, Apple may use OpenAI instead.

We don’t know yet what the new iOS features might be. But it could have some of the same Pixel and Galaxy AI features, plus new ones from OpenAI. Apple is also working on its own AI technology, so there may be iPhone-only options too.

We’ll find out more details at Apple’s big software event in June. Then we’ll see what kinds of chatbot smarts or other AI abilities make it to future iPhones!
