Google Discover Will Now Show You the Air Quality of Your Location

On Android and iOS, Google will display the Air Quality Index (AQI) right in Google Discover. This is in addition to already showing the AQI when searching for “air quality”.

In the Google app, Discover usually shows quick information in a row under the search bar. This includes things like stock prices, sports scores, and the weather. Now it will also include the AQI right from your current location.

Currently, if you tap the empty “air quality” spot in Discover it just searches for “air quality”. But Google is working on making it actually show the numbers. It will display the AQI number with a colored dot to match. The dot’s color will show if the air has particles that may be unhealthy. It will also say when the reading was taken.

The weather spot in Discover is changing a little too. Instead of being small, it will now take up the whole width. This means you can see not just the conditions but also the chance of rain.

Only phones get this row of quick info cards currently. The tables don’t show it. Also, the new special folding Pixel phone doesn’t have it either. But once Google finishes, both Android and iPhone users will be able to easily check the air quality right in Discover without searching for it. All the quick info in one easy spot right on your home screen.
