Emoji Reactions Coming Soon to Gmail

Emoji Reactions Coming Soon to Gmail

It’s finally here – the tool that could turn your email inbox into a nightmare or pure delight, depending on your point of view. Emails can now be replied to with emojis.

Google has confirmed that emoji reactions are coming to Gmail! You’ll soon be able to click a smiling emoji at the bottom of an email to react with a fun symbol. A wide range of emoji will be available like thumbs up, hearts, and lol faces. You can even make party poppers and confetti pop up on screen with certain emojis.

Reacting with emojis is similar to how we reply to social media posts. You’ll see who else reacted to the email and can reuse those symbols too. Be careful though, reactions may come in separate emails if you don’t use the Gmail app. And they won’t work for school/work emails or messages to large groups.

Happily, Google says you can “unsend” reactions the same as recalling a normal email if you mis-tap. This means no more worrying about accidentally hitting the wrong emoji in a rush! The feature starts with Android but will reach other devices soon.

Emoji reactions could liven up your inbox – just try not to overdo the heart-eye faces! Does this change finally mean the end of typing out replies? Only time will tell how often we use the new emoji function in Gmail.
