Will You Have to Pay for Samsung’s New Phone AI Features?

There’s no better example of AI dominating the conversation going into 2024 than the Galaxy S24 series. Apparently, Samsung’s new phones are packed with AI features, and that’s also the marketing campaign surrounding them. It appears, however, that you may have to pay for them.

We recently learned a lot about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 phones. The leaks said the phones will have lots of cool new AI features to help you take better photos, translate languages, and more. However, it mentioned that Samsung may charge you money to use these features after a certain time.

Right now, the leaks say the AI features on the Galaxy S24 will be free to use until 2025. This makes it seem like Samsung plans to start charging for them after that. They might make you pay a fee each time you want to use a feature, or they could charge a monthly or yearly subscription to access all the features.

Other companies charging for AI features is not new. Some chatbots and language models online require a paid subscription. But Samsung charging extra for AI on its phones would be different. Phone makers usually don’t charge ongoing fees just to use the AI features already built into their devices.

It’s possible the leaked details were missing some context though. Samsung may only charge for certain really advanced features, like language translating. But charging money just to use basic AI camera or photo functions seems unlikely. Most people wouldn’t want to pay extra each month just for features their phone already has.

Do you think you would pay for Samsung’s phone AI features down the road? Let me know what you think by voting in the poll below. Samsung’s Galaxy S24 launch is coming up fast too, so we should find out more details very soon.
