While this is a frustrating situation, Android solved it years ago with notification history. However, if you own a Samsung or OnePlus phone, you might not be aware of this.
Android has had notification history for a few years now. This feature lets you see notifications you accidentally swiped away. It is really helpful! But Samsung and OnePlus are not making it easy to find.
What is Notification History?
Notification history collects your notifications and groups them by app. It shows you notifications from the last day that you swiped away by accident. Android automatically turns it off for privacy. But you can easily turn it on in your phone’s settings.
On a Google Pixel phone, it is simple to use notification history. There is even a handy button to quickly see past notifications. But Samsung and OnePlus phones do not make it so easy.
Why Can’t I Find It on Samsung and OnePlus Phones?
On Samsung and OnePlus phones, notification history is hidden deep in the settings menu. You have to click through several pages to find and turn it on. Samsung calls it an “advanced setting”, but it is really useful!
Even worse, Samsung and OnePlus removed the quick access button. So every time you want to see past notifications, you have to go through all the settings pages. This makes the helpful feature much harder to use.
Samsung and OnePlus should make notification history easier to discover. It is an important part of Android that helps users. Hopefully they will stop hiding this feature soon.
