LG’s New TVs Are Smarter Than Ever Thanks To AI

Last year, LG updated their TVs with brighter screens called the G3 OLED. This helped pictures look better in both high-brightness HDR and standard SDR modes. Now in early 2024, LG has new OLED TV models called the G4 and M4. But instead of just brighter screens, LG is focusing on Artificial Intelligence or AI.

LG added their newest Alpha 11 AI processor to the G4 and M4 TVs. This processor makes images and sound look better than before. It’s around 70% faster at handling graphics and 30% faster overall compared to the previous processor. The AI also analyzes each pixel to fix blurry objects and backgrounds. Colors, brightness, contrast and audio get improved too.

While the emphasis is on AI, LG claims the new M4 and G4 still have brighter screens than any other OLED TVs today. The TVs have 4K resolution with fast 144Hz refresh rates. Gamers will enjoy features like HDMI 2.1, different preset display modes, and support for NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync.

The wireless M4 comes in a larger new 65-inch size without any cables needed. There’s also an enormous 83-inch G4 model. Both run the latest version of LG’s webOS platform. Users can create multiple personalized profiles for personalized recommendations. The AI can also recognize voices to individual profiles.

LG is offering 5 years of free webOS software updates for the new TVs. Older LG TVs from 2022 will also get an updated webOS experience via the “webOS Re-New” program for 5 years. However, US pricing and availability hasn’t been announced yet. Stay tuned for more details from LG at CES 2024!
