Samsung’s New Smart Assistant to Launch With Galaxy S24 Series

In a premature announcement, Samsung’s Australian X (formerly Twitter) account announced the date of its next Galaxy Unpacked event. Our first look at the Galaxy S24 series is likely to happen on January 17 at 1:00 PM ET, when this Unpacked will take place. This event will give us our first peek at Samsung’s new smart assistant called Galaxy AI.

In November, Samsung told us it was working on a new artificial intelligence called Galaxy AI. They said we’d see it in early 2023 but didn’t share the exact date. Now it seems we’ll get our first look at Galaxy AI on January 17th alongside the new Galaxy S24 phones.

The accidental tweet from Samsung Australia included a video promoting the event. In the video we saw the Galaxy AI logo, which looks similar to Google’s assistant called Bard. Although they look alike, Galaxy AI and Bard are not related.

The video also mentioned that some Galaxy AI features will need an internet connection to work. Samsung confirmed before that some AI abilities can run without internet on your device, while others require cloud computing.

Galaxy AI is based on Samsung’s own technology called Gauss. Gauss has different levels like Language, Code and Image that Samsung uses internally now. Galaxy AI will take on assistants from Microsoft, Google and others when it launches to consumers.

We don’t have many specifics about Galaxy AI yet, but the accidental reveal from Samsung Australia tells us our first look is coming on January 17th at the big Galaxy Unpacked launch event. Stay tuned for all the news on the new Galaxy S24 phones and Samsung’s entrance into the smart assistant world!
