Google Pixel 8 Series May Get Special Night Video Feature

Google Pixel Phones May Get Special Night Video Feature

With its so-called Night Sight mode, Google was one of the first brands to offer a night mode for photography in 2018. Now, it sounds like the Pixel 8 series will bring this concept to video. Rumors suggest that the Pixel 8 Pro phone will have a new “Night Sight Video” option for better low-light videos.

Night Sight Video would help you take clearer, brighter videos in the dark. Right now, Pixel phones only let you lower the frames per second (fps) for darker video. But that doesn’t always help much. The new feature would use Google’s Tensor processor chip to reduce noise and mix details like on Night Sight photos. This could give videos a big boost in low-light performance.

Other companies like OPPO already offer “night mode video” too. Their phones use special chips to make dark videos look nicer. Google’s Pixels might borrow some of these tricks. The rumors also say regular Pixel 8 models will get Night Sight Video since they share the same main camera and processor chip as the Pro.

In other Pixel 8 news, the new phones are said to keep their SIM card slots. Late rumors thought the slots might be removed. But keeping the slots makes it easier to switch cellular plans between phones. Google is working on digital “eSIM” transfers too for Android 14. But your old phone needs Android 14 for that. For now, physical SIMs give more flexibility than eSIM-only choices.

It seems the Pixel 8 series may delight photo fans again with magic night video capabilities. Only time will tell if the rumors end up being true! Let me know if you have any other questions.
