Gmail Makes It Easier Than Ever To Stop Unwanted Emails

You can now unsubscribe to unwanted messages in Gmail, while Google has separated the option to report spam from the unsubscribe feature.

Google has made some helpful changes to how Gmail handles emails you don’t want. The “Unsubscribe” button is now bigger and easier to see on both your phone and computer. Google also separated the options to “Report Spam” and “Unsubscribe” into two separate buttons. They did this so reporting an email by mistake doesn’t negatively affect the sender.

The unsubscribe button is now higher up when you look at an email on your phone or tablet. It’s also easier to spot on your computer without having to open another menu. You can now quickly and easily unsubscribe right from your inbox or a message.

Google understands people accidentally sign up for some emails they don’t really want. Marking these as spam could hurt the sender if they did nothing wrong. By having separate buttons, Google ensures that only real spam gets reported without impacting legitimate emails.

In February, Google will require big email senders to make unsubscribing with one click very clear. They must show an obvious unsubscribe link in each message and process unsubscribe requests within two days. Senders also need to verify their identity to cut down on fake email addresses. Google wants to limit spam without blocking important messages you choose to receive.

These changes help Gmail users stop unwanted emails fast without the risk of false spam reports. With big and clear buttons, it’s simpler than ever to control what lands in your inbox.
