Disney Plus Changes Who Can Use Accounts

Disney Plus Changes Who Can Use Accounts

Disney Plus has officially begun cracking down on password sharing. As of November 1, Canadian Disney Plus subscribers will no longer be able to share their accounts with users outside their households. Disney Plus is sending emails to tell Canadian customers about this new rule.

The emails say that starting on November 1, you can only use your Disney Plus account on devices in your home. Your home means the TVs, phones and other devices used by people who live with you. Disney Plus won’t let you share your login details with friends or family who don’t live with you.

Netflix also recently made similar changes. But Netflix lets you pay extra to add people outside your home as subscribers. Disney Plus hasn’t said if they will offer this. So if you share a Disney Plus account now in Canada, the people you share with may lose access on November 1st.

It’s not clear how Disney Plus will check who is using accounts. They also haven’t said if you can move your watched shows and suggestions to a new account, like on Netflix. Disney announced these sharing changes in August. They raised prices then too and said restrictions will come to more places next year.

The new rules mean Canadians can only enjoy Disney Plus with the people they live with. Be sure to tell any friends or relatives using your account so they’re not surprised when the changes start. Disney wants everyone using the service to pay.
