Netflix Basic With ADs Plan to Launch on November 3

Netflix has recently finalized its plans to launch their basic with ADs plan in 12 countries on Thursday, November 3.

This new plan will not be available in any African country at launch and there is no data to suggest when and if it will come to Africa.

This new plan will launch in the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Mexico
  • Spain
  • UK
  • US

The key restrictions that users of this plan need to know are taht there will be titles that are not available for viewing and there will be no download functionality. You are expected to see four to five minutes of ADs per hour, an experience that’s fairly similar to the cinema industry in Nigeria. However, I expect that they won’t be clustered at the start of the movie, but distributed at every 10 to 20 minutes.

ADs showing on this plan will be 15 to 30 seconds long and provide a new source of much needed revenue for Netflix and if everything goes really well, I can see Netflix dropping this price in the future to attract even more people to subscribe to the Basic with ADs plan.
