Brave Browser Launches New Private Chatbot Leo

Brave Browser Launches New Private Chatbot Leo

You have more than enough options when it comes to AI chatbots, with options such as Bing Chat, ChatGPT, Google Bard, and more. As if that list wasn’t already overcrowded enough, Brave has released its own in-browser chatbot called Leo.

Leo is available now for desktop users using the latest version of the Brave browser. It was originally tested in their Nightly version in August. While only for desktops right now, Leo will come to Android and iOS phones in the coming months.

Like other chatbots, Leo can translate, answer questions, summarize web pages and generate new content. What makes it stand out is its strong focus on privacy. All requests are sent anonymously through encrypted servers. You don’t need an account, and your conversations are deleted after you’re done.

There are two versions of Leo – a free basic version and a premium $15 monthly option. The free version uses Meta’s AI, while premium has an upgraded bot from Anthropic. Premium subscribers get perks like faster responses, early access to new features, and the ability to use multiple AI models.

While privacy is Brave’s big selling point over competitors, only time will tell if it will attract people away from popular bots like ChatGPT. Brave also needs to ensure Leo is just as smart to keep up with industry leaders.

For now, privacy conscious users have a new private chatbot option in Leo from the Brave browser. Make sure to give it a try on desktop or whenever it arrives on mobile later!
