Will the Next Surface Laptop Surprise Us?

Microsoft is known for making small changes between versions of the Surface Laptop. While these laptops get a few upgrades each time, they stay pretty similar overall. Even so, the Surface Laptop is still one of the best laptops you can buy today.

With the next model coming soon, will Microsoft do anything new this time? For now, here’s what we know based on rumors and leaks about the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6.

Will There Be a Surface Laptop 6?
Microsoft has released a new Surface Laptop every year since 2017, except 2020. Reports say Microsoft is working on the Laptop 6 now. Spec sheets for it have even been leaked online. So it’s very likely there will be a Surface Laptop 6 coming soon. But when exactly is still unknown.

When Will the Surface Laptop 6 Come Out?
Past release dates:

  • Surface Laptop: May 2017
  • Surface Laptop 2: October 2018
  • Surface Laptop 3: October 2019
  • Surface Laptop 4: April 2021
  • Surface Laptop 5: October 2022

Microsoft usually launches new models in October. So we may see the Laptop 6 then. However, a reporter said Microsoft invited people to an event in September, which could have announced it. But that event passed with no news. With no clues left, the real release date is anyone’s guess for now.

What Upgrades Could It Have?
Design – Microsoft sticks close to the same laptop design each time. We may see small changes but nothing too different.

Specs – Leaks show upgrades like the latest Intel chips, better battery life of up to 21 hours, and touch screens. The low-quality webcam may stay though.

Pricing – Past Surfaces started at $999. It’s safe to assume the Laptop 6 will cost around the same.

Should You Wait?
Waiting lets you get the latest model. But if your laptop still works well, you may not need to upgrade. Consider alternatives like the Dell XPS 13 too. Only wait if you really need a new laptop soon.

What We Want From the Laptop 6

  • Bold color options not just black/grey
  • Slimmer screen borders like other laptops
  • High-quality features from other Surfaces like 120Hz screens

Overall, the Surface Laptop 6 may not bring big changes. But small spec bumps could make it a great laptop worth considering later this year. Stay tuned for the official launch!
