With the launch of Bard Extensions in English, Google Bard gains new capabilities. Google’s conversation AI can now personalize its responses based on information gathered from Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights and Hotels.
Bard can be very helpful when planning trips with friends. You can ask it to look through your emails and find dates that work for everyone. It can check flights and hotels too. Bard will even pull up directions on Maps and suggest YouTube videos for things to do at your destination.
The bot can now search through your Google Drive and Gmail to find old files you need. You can tell it how to modify documents from Drive as well.
Your private content from emails and docs will stay private. Google says it won’t use this info for ads or to improve Bard. You can also turn off Bard Extensions anytime in your privacy settings.
Now when you ask Bard to “Google it”, the chatbot will check if there are websites that support or disagree with its answer. You can then click to learn more from Google Search results.
Other people can also keep talking with Bard by sharing your conversation with them. They’ll be able to ask Bard more about what you discussed.
Google made these new skills possible using its powerful PaLM 2 AI model. The upgrades help Bard give better, more accurate responses when you chat!
