Spotify Testing AI Playlist Feature

From smartphones and computers to web browsers, generative AI is everywhere these days. A while back, Spotify launched an AI DJ feature, but now it’s upping the ante with AI playlists in beta.

Spotify has announced a new way to create playlists using artificial intelligence. The feature lets you make playlists by entering a prompt. Some examples Spotify gave include music for allergy season or playlists that make you feel like a movie character.

Prompts can include places, animals, activities, colors and emojis too. Spotify says the best prompts combine things like mood, genre and decade. You can then refine playlists by adding more details to the prompt later on.

Only Spotify Premium users in Australia and the UK have access to AI playlists currently. The company is testing the new feature out in a small group first before a wider release.

It will be interesting to see if Spotify rolls out AI playlists to other regions soon. Generating music mixes through simple prompts could be a fun new way to discover news songs and artists.
