Tesla Cars to Call 911 Automatically in a Crash

Next week, Tesla will release its 2023 Holiday Update with some big updates, including one that automatically calls 911 if the airbags deploy in a crash. In addition to Apple Podcasts support, rear-screen Bluetooth headset support, updated park assistance with 3D visuals, and new blind spot indicators, the company announced the update is coming next week.

One of the most important features coming in the update is that Tesla cars will be able to call for help on their own if the driver is hurt in a crash. The car’s computers will detect if the airbags pop out during a crash. If this happens, the car will automatically dial 911 for an ambulance without anyone having to do it manually.

Tesla owners will also finally be able to listen to their favorite podcasts on their phones. The update adds support for Apple Podcasts. Drivers can sync their podcast subscriptions and playlists on their iPhones or other Apple devices.

Some other handy changes include allowing drivers to use wireless headphones behind the front seats. The update adds Bluetooth support for headsets in the back. Parking assistance is getting improved too with 3D graphics to make backing into spots or guiding parking easier to see. Extra cameras on the sides of the car will also help alert drivers if another vehicle is in their blind spot when changing lanes.

Gamers will be glad to know some new mini-games are coming too like a tower defense game and allowing gameplay on the rear passenger screen. This makes long trips more fun for backseat passengers.

The automatic 911 calling and other safety features in the Holiday Update show Tesla is serious about looking after drivers in an emergency. Car owners can expect these helpful improvements to arrive through a simple software download next week.
