Google Drive Makes it Easier to Find Videos and Play Them on Your Phone

Mobile users can now access more search filters and video playback improvements on Google Drive. Google is updating two important features to make viewing videos better than ever on smartphones.

Google Drive videos will now load and play better thanks to a technology called DASH. DASH lets videos adjust quality based on your internet connection. This means videos start faster when you tap play. It also means less buffering even if you speed up playback. Google is adding DASH to all new videos uploaded and will update old videos by the end of the year.

Finding what you need on your phone just got simpler, too. The search filters were hard to see before, but now they are easy to access. Filters for file type, owner, and date modified are in clear drop-down menus under the search bar. As you type your search, relevant filters also appear, so you don’t have to type as much. You can even refine results after tapping search. These filter changes are live for iPhone users now and are coming soon to Android phones.

The updates from Google mean Drive videos load quicker and searches are less frustrating on mobile. Whether you need to find an old video or rewatch a funny clip, the Drive experience continues to get better optimized for small screens.
