Google Adds Helpful Lens Buttons to Your Search

On Android, Google is starting to roll out new buttons next to the search bar that can help you find information quickly. The new buttons let you tap into Google Lens to get translations, identify songs, get homework help and more – without leaving your search.

Some phones are now showing four main buttons under the search bar. These include buttons for “Gallery”, “Translate”, “Homework” and “Sing”. The Gallery button lets you instantly upload photos to Lens to find info. Translate uses Lens to convert text from photos to different languages. Homework helps with schoolwork questions. And Sing can identify songs by humming or singing a short part.

What’s handy is that these buttons change based on what you’re doing. For example, if you take a screenshot, a new “Screenshot” button will appear. Just one tap sends your screenshot to Lens to find related info super fast.

Google is slowly rolling out this new button bar to more people with the latest Google app version. Not everyone sees it yet. Let me know if the new buttons appear for you in the comments below!

The updated search bar makes it easier than ever to access Google Lens right from your main search page. No more opening Lens as a separate app. Just tap to translate, identify objects, find lyrics and more thanks to these contextual shortcut buttons.
