Websites that are harmful are popping up on the internet every day. Chrome’s Safe Browsing feature protects users from most malware, phishing, and other cyberattacks. An enhanced version of that feature is about to get a nice boost, but it will be available only on desktops and iOS devices at first.
How Chrome is Getting Stronger Protection
Google is improving how Chrome checks if a website is dangerous. Instead of using a list stored on your device, which gets updated every 30-60 minutes, Chrome will now instantly check against Google’s server-side list. This list can handle fast-growing threats and is updated immediately when new risks are found.
Google says this real-time checking should block 25% more phishing scams. The company also promises strong privacy – no one, including Google, will know what sites you visit.
When Will Android Get the Upgrade?
At first, only Chrome on desktop and iOS will use real-time checking. But Google says the feature will come to Android devices later this month too.
Password Manager Also Improving on iOS
Chrome’s Password Checkup tool currently flags compromised logins. On iOS, it will now also warn about weak passwords reused across different accounts. This helps users strengthen their online security.
In summary, Chrome is making an important leap forward in protection against dangerous websites. iOS users will have the improved Safe Browsing feature first, but Android phones should see it very soon too.
