Chrome for Android May Soon Get Tab Grouping Features

You probably like Chrome for desktop’s “Tab Group” feature when it comes to tab organization. In spite of the fact that the feature has been available on the desktop browser for quite a while, it has finally made its way to the mobile version as well. Chrome for Android will soon allow users to group even a single tab, making navigation very convenient.

The ability to create single tab groups was first spotted in the Chrome Canary app for Android back in January. Canary is an early testing version of Chrome where new features are tried out. Recently, the feature became active in Canary through a special setting.

Once enabled, a new “Group tab” option appears when you tap the three dots on a tab. Selecting this lets you add the current tab to a group. You can even rename the group and customize it further.

This brings the same handy tab grouping tool from the desktop version to mobile. Now you can cluster related tabs together without cluttering your browser. Having separate organized tab folders will make it much easier to find what you need quickly.

For now, single tab grouping is only in the Chrome Canary app as it continues to be tested. Stable Chrome releases may get this down the line once it’s fully developed. So Canary users can try it out early and provide feedback to improve the feature.

With tab grouping arriving on Android, Chrome offers a more customizable browsing experience matching its desktop version. Stay tuned for when this useful update comes to the main Chrome app!
