Chrome Browser Now Available In Google-Powered Cars

Google always brings plenty to share at CES each year, including auto-focused updates. A number of new features are in store for cars with Google built-in.

One major addition is that the trusted Chrome browser will now be navigable in your vehicle. Volvo and Polestar owners can test it out now in beta, with other vehicles getting it later in 2024. Having a full browser handy offers flexible web access tied to your Google account. Google also said popular apps like The Weather Channel, PBS Kids and Crunchyroll are car-bound.

Cars with Android Auto will also receive charging enhancements in Google Maps. The app can estimate battery percentage upon arrival plus recommend charging stops based on your predicted power level. Ford’s Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning trucks will welcome this helpful function in the coming months.

Sharing trips between devices is getting smoother too. Simply send your Android or iPhone trip plans over to the in-car Google interface launching today. Additionally, select models from Ford, Lincoln and Nissan will integrate Google’s system later this year.

So whether you need web browsing, app entertainment or convenient EV tools, Google’s CES reveals deliver numerous upgrades destined for connected cars. The automotive innovations keep coming!
