Alexa will be able to have longer conversations. It can remember things you talked about before. The AI understands context clues like tone of voice, gestures, and pauses in speaking. This helps Alexa know how to answer in a natural way.
In one example, Alexa was asked its favorite sports team. It replied that since it’s from Seattle, its favorite is the Seahawks! Then it gave details about the team. Alexa can now have opinions and preferences just like people.
The updated Alexa can reference things specific to you too. It will remember music you played or groceries you bought. Then it can suggest recipes based on the foods you purchased.
You’ll also see changes in how Alexa talks. It can show different emotions through its voice like excitement, laughter or surprise. Alexa will react more human-like during conversations.
Best of all, you won’t need to say “Alexa” anymore to some Alexa devices. It can start a chat just from you looking at its screen.
The new conversational Alexa will be available through a free preview soon. After that, the update will roll out to all compatible Echo devices in early 2024. Amazon is making talking to Alexa feel more natural than ever before.
