Warning: Your New iPhone 15 Could Break if You Use Wireless Charging in Your BMW

As of now, we have discovered and confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro phones are experiencing heating issues. Despite Apple’s claims that a software update is on the way, it appears the company has another issue.

Some people on the MacRumors website said their iPhone 15 went into recovery mode when charging it without wires in their BMW car. Even worse, after restarting their phone, they found that Apple Pay wouldn’t work anymore. This makes it seem the chip that lets you pay with your phone was damaged.

It’s not just one or two cases either – others reported it happening with replacement phones too. The issue seems focused on the iPhone 15 Pro rather than the regular iPhone 15. Also, older iPhones didn’t have problems charging in BMWs.

Wireless charging makes phones warmer than using wires. But charging in a hot car on a sunny day, with no fans in the charging pad, could really crank up the temperature. Combined with the iPhone 15 Pro’s heating issues already, that kind of extreme heat might potentially cause damage.

Of course, this is just speculation for now. We’ve asked Apple about what’s happening but are waiting to hear back.

As more comes to light, iPhone 15 owners may want to avoid wirelessly charging their new phones in their BMW vehicles. At least until Apple or BMW address and fix the potential problem. Your expensive new iPhone and your ability to pay contactless could be at risk!
