The Galaxy S24 Ultra – Bigger Price But Are the Changes Worth It?

Samsung has just announced its new Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is more expensive. What’s new? There isn’t much to report at a glance, but we took away a few important points.

The S24 Ultra looks similar to last year’s S23 Ultra and the year before’s S22 Ultra. Samsung seems to have settled on a design that works well. So what exactly is new this time?

There are only two notable hardware changes. One is the titanium used on the sides, which makes it feel nicer but doesn’t change the weight. The much bigger deal is the flat display, which feels perfect for using the S Pen stylus. No weird screen protectors are needed now either.

The rest of the improvements come from Samsung’s new Galaxy AI software. These features integrate AI seamlessly into many tasks. Translation tools work especially well to remove language barriers on calls.

However, the price hike to $1,300 is challenging to justify. Not much else is meaningfully new under the hood. You can get the same long software support from Google’s cheaper Pixel 8 Pro. Only extensive testing will reveal if performance merits the higher cost.

For those set on Samsung, the Galaxy S24 Ultra delivers premium upgrades. But its already premium price got even steeper this year without major innovations. Existing S23 Ultra owners may want to sit this one out.
