You would be wrong if you thought Galaxy AI would mean the end of Bixby as Copilot and Bing Chat did for Cortana. At least for now, Samsung plans to keep the digital assistant around. Samsung recently introduced their new AI system, Galaxy AI, which helps users in many ways like answering questions, editing photos and more. But will Bixby still have a role to play?
It’s natural to wonder what will happen to Bixby since Galaxy AI does similar things. Bixby has been around for a while but hasn’t seen as much use lately with alternatives like Alexa and Google Assistant available. However, Samsung has confirmed Bixby isn’t going anywhere.
When asked about Bixby’s future, Samsung said it will continue to develop Bixby and work alongside Galaxy AI. They see Bixby as part of Galaxy AI rather than a separate thing. This means both assistants will stick around and help Samsung users.
Samsung provided some examples of how Bixby and Galaxy AI will work together at CES. They explained Bixby will be able to understand which home devices you’re using based on your location. Then it can send commands to the right devices for you automatically.
So in summary, while Galaxy AI is the exciting new AI being promoted, don’t count Bixby out just yet. Samsung wants its original assistant Bixby to evolve and cooperate with Galaxy AI going forward. Fans of Bixby can rest assured the helpful virtual helper is here to stay for now.
