No Budget-Friendly Foldables from Samsung in 2024, According to New Statement

It was reported last week that Samsung might be working on a mid-range foldable phone for 2024. Rumor has it that this phone will cost between $400 and $500. However, Samsung has denied these rumors.

A spokesperson for Samsung recently shot down rumors about affordable folding smartphones. When asked by a Korean news site, the spokesperson said “We don’t plan to make foldable phones that cost in the mid-range yet.” They said the rumors of cheap foldables coming in 2024 were “groundless.”

This means we likely won’t see inexpensive folding phones from Samsung anytime soon. Currently, their least expensive folding device is the Flip smartphone, starting at $1000. Samsung’s folding phones are still quite expensive.

In addition, the spokesperson also addressed rumors of a “Galaxy Z FE” model. FE usually means a more affordable version of their flagship phones. But the spokesperson said there are “no concrete plans” for a cheaper Galaxy Z folding phone at this time.

So in summary, don’t expect an affordable folding phone under $1000 from Samsung in the near future. Their current foldables are targeting high-end users. While competitors like Motorola offer folding Razrs for just $700, Samsung wants to focus on premium folding experiences for now. Perhaps in the future, as the technology improves, their prices will come down. But for 2024, expensive foldable phones are likely all we’ll see from the top smartphone brand.
