The new S95D QD-OLED TV from Samsung has a unique feature compared to its predecessors: it features a glare-free display, which Samsung claims eliminates all noticeable reflections. On a sunny day, this should prevent annoying distractions when you’re watching TV.
Samsung achieved this glare-free screen through a special coating on the panel. It applied a hard coating layer and pattern that allowed the beautiful color and contrast of OLED without any glare. Samsung says this is the brightest OLED screen they’ve made yet.
The company tested the TV in very bright conditions to show off the anti-glare coating. Even surrounded by other bright screens, the reflection from a “window” right next to the TV could barely be seen in photos.
As with previous QD-OLED TVs, you get richer colors and higher brightness than normal OLED screens. Reviews loved last year’s model, so this year’s version should perform even better with the glare-free upgrade.
At some angles, you may see a slight reflection, but nothing as distracting as on other TVs. The TV is very thin at less than an inch thick. It has all the latest features like 144Hz gaming support.
The S95D runs Samsung’s Tizen software for easy personalized streaming. It connects to other devices through the separate One Connect box to keep wiring simple. Users can enjoy hundreds of free streaming channels through Samsung’s TV Plus service too.
