Pixel Watch 2 Won’t Fit the Original Cases

Google’s Pixel Watch is a really nice-looking smartwatch, but you’ll want to keep it safe too. While the Pixel Watch 2 looks a lot like the first one, the new cases won’t work on the original watch.

Even though the Pixel Watch 2 has the same general shape and size as the original, some small changes mean the old cases won’t fit. Brands like Spigen and Caseology, which made cases for the first watch, have updated their listings to note this.

What changed? Mainly the crown button, which is the button you twist to scroll. It’s just a tiny bit bigger on the Pixel Watch 2. The other side button is also slightly different. The space for the microphone moved too.

These little changes might not look like much, but it’s enough that cases wrapping around the edge won’t line up right. So if you have an original Pixel Watch, the new Pixel Watch 2 cases won’t work.

Don’t rush to buy a case yet though. When the first Pixel Watch came out, lots of case options arrived quickly. Case makers will have new ones ready soon now that the Pixel Watch 2 is here.

With any new tech, small changes can happen between versions. But it’s good to know that Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 owners can’t share case options. The watch protectors will need to match the specific model. Staying patient will ensure getting a case that properly fits the watch.
