Nothing Phone 1 Gets Android 14 Beta Early as a Holiday Surprise

Nothing announced last Friday that Nothing OS 2.5 would be coming to the Phone 2. Also, the company said it would release an open beta for the Phone 1 before the end of the year. It appears that the time is right, since the company has officially announced the open beta.

Nothing surprised Phone 1 owners with an early Christmas gift by releasing the Android 14 beta of Nothing OS 2.5 for their device. On Monday, Nothing announced on X (Formerly Twitter) that the open beta was available for the Phone 1. They posted holiday-themed images on Twitter that revealed the announcement when clicked.

Phone 1 users can now try out new features and improvements from the latest Nothing OS update. One cool new option is “Atmosphere Wallpapers,” which makes photos on your home screen move like a dynamic wallpaper. There are also more options to customize your lock screen and home screen. Gestures got updated too, with new shortcuts and screenshots. New widgets have been added for step counting, music controls, and screen time management. Other under-the-hood changes improve stability, notifications, and more.

If you own a Nothing Phone 1 and want to be one of the first to test the new OS beta, all you need to do is download it. Nothing says the beta will provide early access to new features coming in the stable Nothing OS 2.5 update. By joining the beta, you can give feedback to Nothing and help make the software even better. This holiday surprise gives Phone 1 owners an exciting early look at what’s to come in Android 14 on their device.
