Netflix Won’t Give Apple Vision Pro Users Any Way to Watch

In Apple’s announcement earlier this week of Vision Pro entertainment apps, Netflix was noticeably absent. It was clear from this that the most popular streaming service did not plan to make a native headset app. Now Netflix has confirmed they won’t let Vision Pro users watch in other ways either.

Netflix said no when Apple asked if it could bring the iPad Netflix app to Vision Pro. This would let viewers watch movies and shows by running the iPad version through compatibility mode. Instead, Netflix wants people to only watch on the web browser.

Most other big streaming services are helping out Apple Vision Pro users though. Apps from Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Video, and more will be available right on the headset. Disney is even making some movies available in 3D for the first time ever.

Apple also has its own TV app and streaming service called Apple TV+. Originals made for Vision Pro will let you watch shows and movies in new immersive ways with 8K 180-degree video. Over 150 3D movies can also be rented from the app at launch.

Overall Apple Vision Pro is offering many options for streaming, gaming, and more when it launches in February. But Netflix subscribers will be left watching shows through a regular browser instead of special apps. With Apple only selling around 500,000 units in the first year, Netflix may not upset too many users yet. But this could change as Vision Pro grows more popular over time.
