How Trying the Apple Vision Pro Will Work

If you’re planning on trying the Apple Vision Pro when it’s released on February 2nd, you’re going to have to follow a certain procedure. Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg sheds light on how the Vision Pro will be demoed in-store.

When you go to the Apple Store to try the Vision Pro, a staff member will first scan your face. This is like setting up Face ID on your iPhone. They need to find the right fit for the light seal around your eyes. If you wear glasses, the staff will also scan your lenses with a special device. This helps them know your eyeglass prescription.

After scanning, the staff will put lenses and a seal into the Vision Pro headset. The lenses will be chosen from the hundreds of options they have available. They will have one that matches your prescription if you need one. The staff will then show you how to wear the Vision Pro correctly. They will also explain how to use it, like how to hold it on your head.

Your demo of the Vision Pro will last up to 25 minutes. You can view photos and videos in 3D. You can also use it like a computer or iPad to browse apps. Third-party apps will be shown too.

Even if you don’t try it in the store, you can still buy the Vision Pro online from Apple. But you will need to scan yourself with an iPhone or iPad first. You also need to provide your eye prescription when ordering lenses online for $149.

Apple has plans for more affordable models in the future. But with a starting price of $3,500, the Vision Pro may be out of reach for many until the technology becomes cheaper. So going to the Apple Store for a demo is a nice way to see it in action before deciding if you want one.
