Microsoft Removing WordPad in Future Windows Update

Microsoft Removing WordPad in Future Windows Update

In a future release of Windows, Microsoft will no longer update WordPad. Microsoft Word, the company’s paid word processor, has always been more powerful than WordPad, the free app that has always come with Windows since 1995.

WordPad has been part of Windows for a very long time. It came with the first Windows 95 computer and has been included ever since. But now Microsoft says they will take it out of future Windows updates.

Microsoft WordPad is very basic and doesn’t have many features. On the other hand, Microsoft Word is made to be more full-featured for writing long papers or documents. It lets you do more like changing fonts, inserting pictures and making documents look nicer.

According to Microsoft, WordPad hasn’t been changed or updated much recently. The last big update was when Windows 8 came out over 10 years ago. Since then it has remained the same. Microsoft thinks it is better to recommend Word instead, which is updated more often with new features.

Notepad, another simple text editor, is also getting some new features like automatic saving of your work. But WordPad won’t get any enhancements going forward and will vanish from Windows one day.

For those who need basic text editing, Microsoft suggests using Notepad instead of WordPad now. And if you want more powerful options for documents, Microsoft Word is the program to use on future versions of Windows without WordPad.
