Meta may be about to boost Threads once again…at least in terms of new content sources. Using the same feature that was previously available for cross-posting from Facebook to Instagram, the company has been spotted testing a cross-posting feature that would allow users to post simultaneously on both platforms.

Meta has confirmed they’re doing a small test of a feature that lets people share the same text or link posts from Facebook over to Threads as well. The test is only for iPhone users and doesn’t include Europe. This could help people who regularly post photos, videos and updates across different apps by saving them the trouble of sharing everywhere separately.

It also ties Threads closer to Meta’s whole family of apps, which includes Facebook and Instagram with nearly 4 billion users combined. Even if a tiny portion of those Facebook users tried cross-posting to Threads, it could massively boost the number of posts.

Facebook added the option to share on Instagram back in 2021. Before that, you could share Instagram Stories to Facebook Stories. Now with Threads, their new Twitter-like app, they gave it a headstart by automatically linking Threads users to their Facebook and Instagram friends.

Threads grew super fast, hitting 100 million users in just 5 days! Recently it reached over 130 million people using it every month. Cross-posting could help it grow even more by making it effortless for Facebook users to simultaneously reach their Threads followers too.

Do you think giving Threads access to billions of potential new posts from Facebook could make it a serious player in social media? Let me know what you think in the comments!
