Google’s New “Swipe” Feature Provides Personalized Fashion Recommendations

On Wednesday, Google announced an update that will make it easier for users to find personalized shopping results. When shopping for apparel, shoes, and accessories, users can rate different products to get style recommendations. Google’s update comes as companies like Amazon and Walmart have released AI-powered shopping features to rival Google’s.

Now when searching for clothing on Google, users will see a “Style Recommendations” section. Here, shoppers can quickly like or dislike clothing options with a simple left or right swipe, similar to Tinder. Unsure items can be skipped.

After rating several pieces, Google will customize search results just for you. Not finding what you want? Rate more clothing to see additional options tailored to your preferences. Google remembers what you like, so those styles will be prioritized on future clothing searches.

This “swipe” feature makes it fun and fast to navigate shopping results. With one tap or swipe, users provide input to improve Google’s clothing recommendations over time. Personalized search helps shoppers find their perfect outfit more efficiently.

The update is currently available on mobile for American shoppers. It’s unclear if or when the feature will expand worldwide. As online retail giants build AI shopping tools, Google’s new swipe functionality ensures it stays competitive in fashion. A more personalized search experience could translate to increased customer satisfaction and sales.
