Google Chat Finally Getting Voice Messages

In a recent announcement, Google Chat announced that it would feature voice messages soon. Over the next few months, it will be rolled out in two stages. This is a feature that many people have wanted for a long time.

Google Chat is an app mostly used by workplaces and businesses. It lets people message each other. Soon, people will be able to send short voice recordings too. This will make it easier to share quick thoughts or updates.

It will start with some versions of Google Workspace. These are paid plans used by companies. Not everyone will get it right away. At first, you can only make voice messages on phones and tablets. But you can listen to them on computers too.

In the future, the app may even type out what you said in the recording. That would be helpful if you need to read a message quietly. It could also help people in other countries understand it.

Sending voice messages will work a lot like on other apps. You press and hold the microphone button to record. Then you can listen back or delete it before sending. It’s a small update but an important one that people have been asking for.

While Google Chat is a bit late adding this compared to apps like WhatsApp, being able to see typed-out voice messages would set it apart. The coming months will see more people able to try out this new way to chat.
