The year 2025 will see the release of a new video game called “Side Kicks! Beyond.” The game will be available for Android and iOS users in Japan to play on their phones. It’s a kind of game called a visual novel, like reading a book but with images, music, and choices that affect the plot. The game falls into the category of otome games, which appeals to women in particular.
Side Kicks! Beyond is based on an earlier game from 2017 for the PS Vita gaming console. The same companies—Toybox Inc. and Karakuri-ism—made that game. Another company called eXtend will release the new mobile version. They say it will be even better with improved graphics, more story parts, and maybe new characters.
The game tells the story of Inori. She can see bits of the future, so she joins a special team called the “Side Kicks” in Sakrada City, California. Instead of normal police work, the Side Kicks use each member’s unique skills and ideas to fight crime. The new version will also include a special crossover story mixing Side Kicks’ characters with those from another game called Bustafellows.
We don’t know all the new details yet. But the companies promise the updated mobile version will have better graphics and more content than the original PS Vita game. When can you play it? eXtend showed a short preview video that got fans excited. However, Side Kicks! Beyond is only confirmed to launch in Japan in 2025 so far. No word yet on other locations.
