Apple AirPods Could Sport USB-C with iPhone 15 In The September Launch

Apple AirPods Could Sport USB-C with iPhone 15 In The September Launch

Apple has scheduled a special event for September 12 for the launch of its iPhone 15 series and new Apple Watches. In this year’s iPhones, the biggest change will be a switch from Lightning to USB-C ports, and this will not be limited to the iPhones. In addition to the iPhone 15 lineup, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple will refresh the AirPods with USB-C.

Apple currently sells four AirPods models – the basic AirPods 2, the AirPods 3 with shorter stems, the noise cancelling AirPods Pro, and the over-ear AirPods Max headphones. Of these, the AirPods Pro seem most likely to get a charging case upgrade to USB-C.

Trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also previously said the AirPods Pro 2 could be the first AirPods with USB-C charging in 2023. However, Kuo noted the standard AirPods 2 and 3 are not expected to switch to USB-C charging yet.

By complementing the iPhone 15’s USB-C ports with similarly upgraded AirPods, Apple aims to provide a smoother experience across its product range. With macbooks and ipads already using USB-C extensively, this move makes the whole Apple ecosystem more consistent.

Will you be upgrading to the new iPhone 15 and USB-C AirPods this fall? Stay tuned for all the latest announcements from Apple’s September event!
