X is Now Letting Everyone Make Video and Audio Calls

X introduced a new feature last year that lets users make and receive audio and video calls, just like FaceTime and WhatsApp. This feature was previously only available to Premium subscribers, but now X is opening it up to everyone. This means all X users can now connect by video or voice, even without paying for a subscription.

How X Calls Work For Everyone Now
Previously, X Premium subscribers were the only ones who could add video or audio to their direct messages. X Premium costs money each month but gives extra perks like editing tweets and longer videos. Soon all X users will be able to add their face and voice to chats for free, straight from the X app.

The calls work similarly to other chatting apps that have videos, like WhatsApp and Instagram. Your phone will also show incoming calls on the lock screen, like regular phone calls. Some people were worried about strangers calling them on X, but you have controls.

How to Change Your Call Privacy Settings
Go into your X settings to control who can call or message you. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open the X app
  2. Tap your profile picture
  3. Go to “Settings and privacy”
  4. Choose “Privacy and safety”
  5. Find “Direct messages”
  6. Choose who can call or message you like friends or just verified profiles
  7. Turn off calls completely by disabling the calls option

Now anyone can easily chat face-to-face or voice-to-voice on X from their phone without a subscription. Be sure to update your X app to enjoy calls on all devices.
