Trade-in values for the Pixel 7 series have declined sharply at the Google Store

Google seems upset with people who waited to upgrade from their Pixel 7 to the new Pixel 8. If you have a Pixel 7 or 7 Pro and now want to trade it in to buy a Pixel 8, you’ll be disappointed.

When pre-orders started for the Pixel 8, Google offered a lot more money to trade in the old phones. They’d pay $420 to swap a Pixel 7 Pro for a new Pixel 8. And $325 to trade a regular Pixel 7.

Now the deals aren’t as good. Google will only pay $274 to trade a Pixel 7 Pro. And only $200 for a regular Pixel 7. Some other older iPhones can get you more cash back than those Pixel 7 offers!

So Google cut the prices a lot compared to pre-order time. And they’re not including a free Pixel Watch 2 either, like before. If you didn’t preorder the Pixel 8, you missed out on those nicer trade-in deals from Google.

It’s like Google is punishing people who waited to upgrade. Maybe they hope next time folks will preorder the newest phone when it’s first announced. For now, people trading in their Pixel 7 will find it’s not as worth it money-wise as it used to be.
