The TikTok app is planning to launch a new photo-sharing app that could compete with Instagram. In a notification sent to users, TikTok announced the launch of TikTok Notes, a new app for photo posts.
TikTok Notes will let users share the photos they post on TikTok to the new app. Users can choose not to share their photos if they want. For a little while, if you went to a website called photo.tiktok.com you saw a message about opening the TikTok Notes app. The photo on the website gave us an idea of what the app will look like. It seems you can add a caption to your photos too.
TikTok is testing ways for its community to create and share photos and text together in one place. But the company didn’t say when TikTok Notes will be fully released. We asked TikTok for more details, but they didn’t respond yet.
Last month, some code was found in the TikTok app that mentioned an app called TikTok Photos. It looks like that app is now being called TikTok Notes and will launch soon. TikTok Notes could be very popular right away. That’s because most TikTok users allow their photos to be shared there. So TikTok Notes won’t need to start from zero users like a new app usually does.
Only time will tell if TikTok Notes can compete with the king of photo sharing apps, Instagram. But with TikTok’s huge user base, this new app has a good chance at being the next big thing for posting pictures online.
