Threads Adds Live Sports Scores So Fans Can Follow the Action

Instagram’s Twitter-like app Threads now displays live sports scores. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced on Friday that Threads has started testing live scores for NBA games and plans to support more leagues in the future.

Threads is trying to take on X, which has shown live game scores for about 10 years. By adding scores, Threads wants users who usually talk about live games on X. It’s not just scores – fans can also see conversations for their favorite teams.

Threads says basketball is very popular on the app. NBA Threads is one of its most active communities. The new scores make it easier to join in and discuss games. The company wants Threads to be the place for sports talk.

Within a day of a game, you can search Threads to see the start time. During a game, search to see the current score. After a game ends, search to find the final result.

This joins Threads’ other new feature of “trending now” topics. Like X, this shows what everyone is discussing. Both changes help Threads compete with the social media champion.
