TECNO is a phone maker that focuses on offering feature-rich devices without costing a lot of money. Their latest launch, the Phantom V Flip, shows they want to do the same for foldable phones.
The Flip is TECNO’s first flip phone-style device. It folds like an old-school flip phone, so you can easily put it in your pocket. When open, there is a big 6.9-inch screen for watching videos or playing games.
To keep the price low at around $600, TECNO had to cut some corners. The processor inside is good but not top-of-the-line. There is also no wireless charging, which is common on expensive foldables. But for the price you do get features usually only on high-end phones like 8GB of fast RAM and 256GB of storage.
The outside cover of the phone has a circular screen like a smartwatch. This lets you check notifications without opening the phone. When folded, the two screens form an upright rectangle for easy viewing.
TECNO packed a good camera into the Flip too. On the back are two lenses, a main 64MP camera along a 13MP ultrawide. Even the front-facing camera is high at 32MP. Plus it has a selfie light for low-light shots.
Early buyers can get the TECNO Phantom V Flip for just under $600 right now in India. That is much less than competitors like the Galaxy Flip 5 or Motorola Razr folding phones. Only time will tell if TECNO’s first flip phone is as durable and reliable as more expensive models. But for the price it offers great value and specs you would not expect at this low cost.
