Meta Getting Ready to Launch New AI Chatbots for Teens

We’ve heard Meta may soon reveal new artificial intelligence chatbots at their upcoming Connect event. These chatbots are aimed at younger users and are called “Gen AI Personas”.

Similar chatbot avatars have already been tested on Instagram before. But the new ones sound more fun and exciting for teens. They will have different “personalities” to make chatting more colorful.

Apparently, one personality will be like the sassy robot Bender from Futurama. Another will be a very curious alien called “Alvin”. However, one employee worried Alvin may ask too many personal questions!

Unfortunately, an earlier test chatbot said something inappropriate like “barfing on a girl is definitely an experience”. Yuck! Meta will need to monitor the chatbots closely.

The article mentions Meta wants to create “dozens” of these personalities. They have also worked on a tool to let famous people and celebrities build chatbots representing themselves. This could be a cool way for fans to interact with stars online!

As messaging apps like ChatGPT get really popular with teens, Meta sees chatbots as a new way to keep young users engaged. If the bots are fun to talk with, it gives Meta more chances to show ads too.

Only time will tell if Gen AI Personas is a hit when it launches soon. But it seems Meta is serious about exploring chatbots and virtual worlds to attract younger audiences.
