Microsoft Teams Comes to Android Auto in February – Nearly a Year After Announcement

In February 2024, Microsoft will introduce Android Auto compatibility for its workplace chat application, Teams, according to recent announcements.

After announcing plans to bring Teams to Android Auto nearly a year ago, Microsoft has finally revealed a specific launch timeframe. In a roadmap update on January 4th, the company stated Teams will be available on Android Auto starting next month.

With the Teams app for Android Auto, users will be able to join meetings and calls hands-free from their car dashboards. They’ll see calendar events and recent calls mirrored from their phones. Speed dial contacts can also be quickly called on the go.

The app is aiming to deliver a safer, more accessible way to use Teams while driving. By integrating with Android Auto, users won’t have to manually interact with their phones for work communications. Calls, notifications and other tasks can be managed through vehicle displays and controls.

Competitor workplace apps like Zoom and Webex arrived on Android Auto last September. But Microsoft is now set to offer its solution to the platform’s growing business user base next month. The move comes after Teams brought Apple CarPlay support back in 2021.

Android Auto compatibility could help Microsoft further expand the reach of its popular team collaboration software. Come February, drivers will gain yet another convenient option for staying connected on the road.
