As part of its latest update for its Quest headsets, Meta is adding better customization features to its avatar creator. Meta’s Monday blog post notes that you’ll be able to “fine tune things like hair and eyebrow color, adjust skin tone more accurately, add makeup and face paint, and otherwise make your VR persona better reflect how you see yourself in real life.” These new options will help you design an avatar that is a much better representation of who you are.
Some cool new customization features in the update include sliders to choose the exact shade for your hair color and highlights. Previously, you could only pick from a set of hair colors that Meta provided. The update is also adding makeup like blush and face paint that you can add to your avatar.
There are screenshots from Meta that show what these new options will look like. You will be able to see the sliders for hair color and highlights. It also shows the different makeup and face paint styles you can choose. These new features will help your avatar look much more like the real you.
The update is coming soon through version 57 of the Quest software. More changes in this update include letting you undo images you recently sent to others in VR and the Quest phone app. The section that recommends apps to try, Explore, is renamed to Horizon to match Meta’s social VR world Horizon Worlds.
Some other big announcements could come from Meta about VR at their Connect event later this month. We might find out more details on the upcoming Quest 3 headset. Meta also teased that they will share news about a Horizon Worlds app for phones. This update and event mean good things are coming soon to make VR experiences through Meta even better.
