OpenAI’s drama is hopefully coming to an end. The AI non-profit now has a new CEO, Emmett Shear, while its former head Sam Altman and president Greg Brockman have moved to Microsoft.
Microsoft Makes Big Hire From OpenAI
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that Sam Altman, who led OpenAI until recently, joined their company. Altman will oversee a new advanced AI research division at Microsoft with ex-OpenAI president Greg Brockman and other colleagues.
Brockman, along with top researchers Jakub Pachocki, Aleksander Madry, and Szymon Sidor, resigned from OpenAI after Altman’s departure. They’re excited to continue pioneering AI alongside Altman at Microsoft.
OpenAI and Microsoft Committed to Partnership
Microsoft says it remains supportive of OpenAI’s work under new leadership. The tech giant will keep investing in OpenAI while welcoming top talents from there.
It’s unclear how many other OpenAI employees will make the shift. All eyes are on how Emmett Shear guides OpenAI following recent leadership changes.
