Elon Musk’s company xAI has made a chatbot named Grok to talk with people like ChatGPT and Google Bard. They say Grok is from the story “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and likes to joke around and not follow all the rules.
Grok knows about things happening on X, which used to be called Twitter. It gets updates from posts on X, so it always has the newest information. Elon Musk showed how Grok could answer a question ChatGPT does not know about yet.
Some things Grok will talk about that other chatbots won’t xAI said Grok “will also answer naughty questions” like how to make drugs. When someone asked Grok for cocaine, it did not give them the recipe. It just played along with the question as a joke.
Right now, only some people on X who sign up can use Grok. It is still new and has only been taught for two months. xAI wants people to test it so it gets smarter each week. Later, everyone on X Premium for $16 per month can talk to Grok.
Grok wants to be helpful but also has a sense of humor. Only try it if you can take a joke! Elon Musk thinks Grok’s access to the newest information on X will help it be even better at chatting than other bots. Soon, we will all get to see if Grok really is as clever as it seems.
