Bring Your Music Anywhere With AirPlay: Eve Play Reviewed

Eve is launching a new device called Eve Play that lets you stream music to your home speakers from an iPhone or iPad. Costing $150, the Eve Play works with AirPlay 2, which is Apple’s wireless audio technology.

The Eve Play connects to your home wifi and has connections for different types of speakers like optical, coaxial, and RCA outputs. This means it can work with many types of speakers in places around your home. It also has an Ethernet port if you want a more stable wired connection.

Inside, there is a digital-to-analog converter, or DAC, to convert the digital audio to analog for your speakers. The Eve app lets you adjust settings like syncing the audio between multiple speakers to make sure everything is in perfect timing.

Only a few other options exist that work with AirPlay 2, like the LinkPlay WiiM Pro. But the Eve Play is more focused on AirPlay, while the WiiM Pro supports other technologies too.

AirPlay support is great for iPhone users who want an easy way to stream music anywhere in their homes. The Eve Play’s audio connections give flexibility. But it only streams received audio, there’s no way to connect audio sources.

Eve also announced updates for other products. A new temperature sensor works with their smart radiator valve. And their smart blinds will get a firmware upgrade, adding new features controlled by the Matter standard.

If you want an easy way to take your iPhone or iPad music anywhere in your home, the Eve Play looks like a good wireless option when it launches in November 2022. Its AirPlay support and audio connections provide flexibility for any Hi-Fi setup.
